FAQ’s

All About Rewires

Below you’ll see a number of frequently asked questions containing some very useful information all about rewires.

How long will it take?

We generally rewire an averaged sized property within a week, but this can vary for larger or smaller properties, or if there are extenuating circumstances.

Before starting any project, we’ll always give you a more accurate timeline based on your individual circumstances. In cases where rewiring is a matter of urgency, we’ll always work hard to make necessary accommodations to reduce the turnaround time.

What should I expect?

No two projects are identical, as everyone has their own unique needs, and each property will require slightly different solutions. That’s why we talk you through the process of your project in detail, so you know what to expect before we get started.

How often should my property be tested?

At a minimum, you should have your property tested every 10 years. There will be situations where it’s mandatory that you have it tested more often though, such as if you’re a landlord.

How often should my property be rewired?

As cables and other electrical components age, they deteriorate and become more likely to cause problems. The average cable lifespan is between 25 – 30 years so it’s recommended that your property gets a rewire in this sort of time frame.

Can I stay in the property when it is being rewired?

You are allowed to stay in the property while we’re rewiring it, but if possible, we highly recommend that you stay somewhere else while the work is being carried out. During this time, your property will become a busy worksite with temporary power for essentials only (fridge, freezer etc). Staying there will likely add extra time to the project due to additional tidying and health and safety concerns, and in general just be an uncomfortable place to be living.

What area do you cover?

We predominantly cover Inverness-shire and the Scottish Highlands however we are also willing to travel further afield.
